The Old Bastard Room carries layers of Kaesler history within its walls. Before our newly developed cellar door welcomed guests, this was the heart of our tastings and hospitality. In its earliest days, the building served as a working cattle shed, and traces of that past remain today. With its original architecture and enduring character, the room delivers a warm rustic charm – a cosy space that feels both authentic and timeless.

Availability
Bookings for the private group tasting are available Thursday – Saturday.

The Old Bastard Room can be reserved for private groups of 6 to 12 guests.

A structured tasting menu of 7 premium wines including The Old Bastard Shiraz.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the event date:
A full refund will be provided. Alternatively, the booking may be rescheduled, with the original deposit transferred to the new date.

Cancellations made within 7 days of the event date:
The deposit will be retained. Any remaining balance paid will be refunded. Alternatively, the booking may be rescheduled, with the original deposit transferred to the new date.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event date:
No refunds will be provided. The deposit and any payments made will be retained. Original deposit will not be transferable to a new date.

BYO Policy
There is strictly no BYO alcohol onto the premises. Any and all alcoholic beverages must be purchased and supplied by Kaesler Wines. If you are found to have BYO alcohol, your event will be canceled on the spot, and a refund will not be available.

Responsible Service of Alcohol
Kaesler Wines operates in accordance with the Liquor Licensing Act 1997 (SA) and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements. Staff reserve the right to refuse service to any person who is intoxicated, disorderly, or behaving offensively, in line with RSA guidelines and Kaesler Wines’ duty of care under the Act.

Duty of Care
Under the Liquor Licensing Act 1997 (SA), Kaesler Wines has a duty of care to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and patrons. Management may take any action deemed necessary to uphold this duty, including refusal of service or early conclusion of the event if required.

Damages and Liability
The person responsible for the event booking is liable for any damage caused to Kaesler Wines’ property, including but not limited to grounds, furnishings, glassware, and equipment. Costs for repair, replacement, or cleaning will be charged to the booking party.
