GIBarossa Valley

100% Shiraz sourced from Kaesler estate vines planted in 1899 at Marananga. This vineyard has a soil type that is very unique and quite different to most of the Kaesler vineyards. We always suspected that we could do a single vineyard wine from this patch, as it is fairly large by old vine standards and not too many can boast custody of nine acres of Shiraz planted three centuries ago in 1899. It’s a national treasure!

Fruit was hand-picked on 14th February 2013 and was left for 7 days on skins. During this time, the wine was pumped over gently twice per day. This wine has been matured in 35% new and 65% 1 and 2 year old French oak for 19 months. No fining or filtration.

Deep red

Blackberries, mulberries with hints of espresso and dark chocolate.

Huge length of flavour on the palate, yet refined – you can taste some of the oak and youthful tannin. Beautifully raw, yet elegant. It’s an attractive wine and will age with grace.

Limited Edition, only 500 cases produced. Cellars for up to 20 years in correct cellaring.

release, decanting recommended. A massively powerful, ultra-full-bodied style charged with sultry smoky black fruits and charcuterie. Poses the same questions as all the others in the range. Cork.

  • Wine Advocate - 93pt

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Alte Reben Shiraz has a gorgeous nose of crushed black cherries and mulberries with underlying violets, chocolate box and baking spice hints. The full-bodied palate has wonderful opulence and expression yet great finesse and harmony with silky tannins and a lively backbone finishing with great purity.

  • Wine Spectator - 92pt

Polished and supple, with cinnamon-scented black cherry, dark chocolate and espresso flavors. Intense and harmonious on the long finish, where the fine-grained tannins linger. Drink now through 2021. 500 cases made.
